Adam Lambert: Career Advice from the Queen of Pop
Sitting down for his much-awaited Oprah interview on Tuesday, Adam Lambert chatted with the talk show host about everything from career advice to his sudden rise to fame.
The “American Idol” stud explained a quick meet-up with Madonna at her NYC apartment, telling, “It was wild, I’ve looked up to her as a popstar… She came in with no make-up, yoga wear, totally Zen and her presence is very powerful, very intense.”
Continuing on, Lambert tells, “The first thing I said was, ‘Oh my God!’. I said, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I’m just really intimidated right now’. And she said, ‘Why? Because I love you!’ And she said, ‘So love equals intimidation for you?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, pretty much. Most of the time, I think, when I feel love, that’s the way it manifests itself at first’.”
Adam adds, “I talked to her about celebrity and how to deal with it all. [She said], ‘Just keep your eye on the prize and put your blinders up. Don’t get sidetracked with all the extra fuss’.”
As for the toughest challenge after leaving “Idol”, the soon-to-be 28-year-old said, “I try to go throughout my daily life just as if nothing has changed, but you don’t have much anonymity anymore, which feels really good.”
