THE SCOOP: Alice + Olivia is known for its special brand of pretty-meets-punk designs, and for thier Fall 2010 collection founder and designer Stacey Bendet created pieces that were the perfect blend of flirty and edgy. Party dresses were a theme and sequins, a favorite, as per usual. Each piece was beautifully constructed, but not too complicated so that they could be easily transformed from playful day outfits to chic night ensembles.
M.A.C makeup artist Gregory Arlt was inspired by the whimsical and fun clothes of the collection. “The look is very 1920’s coquettish French girl with lots of sequins so I wanted the skin to look metallic; like it has been in the Parisian sun”, said Arlt. “So I created a makeup look that is very wearable. The skin has a youthful glow paired and the lips are a luscious silvery pink color that have a well dressed shine giving them that just been kissed look.”
Hair stylist Ric Pipino created not just one look, but rather five different looks to add a sense of versatility to the clothing. “The look is rocker but with several distinct moods and styles,” said Pipino. “The hair is a messy but pretty curl that has a glamorous Victorian feel. Each girl’s hair is decorated with a mix of braids, head pieces and hats to reflect the different array of personalities.”
GET THE LOOK – MAKEUP: All products by MAC. Apply shadow in coral (a dusty mauve/gray color) under the eyes and up into the crease. Follow with shadow in Naked Lunch on the eyelid. On the lips, apply Cremesheen Glass Gloss in Partial to Pink which is a light pink and silvery color with a luminous tint.
GET THE LOOK – HAIR: All products by Ric Pipino. Prep with a curling iron and then apply Revolution In Cut’s Lift Me and Curl Me to make layers and give a little life to the hair. Spray teaser at the roots and then shape the curl starting at the root and gently moving down.
