Shopping Girl

An Unpleasant Shopping

It is said that shopping is in girls’ nature, but it doesn’t work out on me. I don’t like shopping very much, or rather I think it very boring and monotonous. However, whenever friends of mine ask me out to go shopping, I accept the offer pleasantly because I don’t want to see a disappointing face.

My best friend Mary asked me to go shopping the other day. She is a crazy fan of Ed Hardy, deeply fascinated with the colorful and eye-catching design of its products. Recently, a classical veto polished her eyes and she wanted to pursue one desperately. She couldn’t wait to pull me into the shops as soon as we took a day off. Because it was weekend, there are lots of people hanging around, crowded and noisy. Unaware of this bad environment, Mary was totally absorbed in her shopping desire. However, Ed Hardy is not that easy to find. We strolled from door to door but still didn’t get anything. We took a stop in a small cafe to get rest as well as our lunch.

Mary: I just can’t understand why we couldn’t find even one Ed Hardy veto around.
I: That’s a big brand, isn’t it? I don’t fancy the idea that we can find a national brand in such a small town.

Mary: But we should try, right? Or else we can’t get anything.

I: We should try, we should try. All right. It’s up to you.

I don’t think Mary can take in any advice now so I bit back my retort timely.

Anyway I just want to go through this day as soon as possible. It means nothing to me after all. But recalling that day from now, it’s a pity that I didn’t insist my opinion or we wouldn’t have that unpleasant experience.

We still continued our shopping that afternoon, more and more hopeless though until we got into a small and exotic shop. The owner was quite passionate as if he was confident that he could meet any demands. Mary asked if there was Ed Hardy’s veto. Same freezing smile that had been seen thousands times today

We were about to leave when the weird man called us. He said that one of his friends might possessed one and asked whether we wanted to check. Of course no to me but Mary agreed. Sometimes women are strange creatures especially when it comes to shopping. I think Mary was in this state so I just reluctantly followed them.
Now came the unpleasant part, it turned out that the owner was a totally dodgy merchant, the veto he showed us was no way the real Ed Hardy but he thought it may trick us. We left immediately, disappointed and angry. But fortunately Mary seemed to be a little rational and suggested we go back. After an exhausted day, both of us didn’t say a word on the way. Maybe this can be a lesson to Mary that we can’t be controlled by the terrible desire too much. It’s also a lesson to me that if I really don’t like it I don’t need to force myself to do so. Although sometimes saying no is not that easy but why shouldn’t we try a little maybe life is lot more pleasant after.
