Good Food in a Christmas Dinner
As eating is one of the essential needs of humans, food is no doubt always a high light of every holiday, and Christmas is no exception. Different countries, even different families have their different traditions to celebrate Christmas, so their recipes for Christmas food can be different as well. Here I am going to introduce some common Christmas dishes for a big Christmas dinner. But it does not mean that these dishes appear on every family’s dinner table. If you find one or some of them delicious, you may as well try them this Christmas.

As turkey is traditional for Thanksgiving, so ham is traditional for Christmas dinner. The ham you find in your supermarket is almost always fully cooked and ready to serve immediately. Most people prefer to heat the ham, and a glaze adds flavor and makes for a gorgeous presentation. There are generally two types of hams you can buy in a supermarket, bone-in or boneless hams. Bone-in hams tend to be more flavorful, but they are more difficult to carve. You can choose whichever you prefer, or you can try both.
Stuffed turkey is often regarded as the usual Christmas meal but appeared on the menu only around 1650 after European colonization of North America. It was introduced to Europe by Sebastian Cabot on his return from the New World. The bird got its name after merchants from Turkey made it a popular dish. Prior to this Swan, Goose, Peacock or Boar were associated with the Christmas feast. Although turkey is more associated with Thanksgiving, a great number of families find they cannot celebrate Christmas well without a turkey. Well, good food is always good food no matter when it is served.
Christmas pudding and mince pies are top grub for typical British families. Different families may make Christmas pudding and mince pies with somewhat different flavors, but they are the necessity of a traditional and typical British Christmas dinner. Usually people use their old family recipes, but nowadays all kinds of recipes are widely available online. You may as well try different flavors each Christmas.

There has never been and will never been a complete list of food served on a Christmas dinner table. You may have your own traditional food in your family, or you may want to try some new recipes you just learn, or you may try to invent your own recipes. No matter what you decide to serve to a Christmas dinner, you are sure to enjoy good food and have fun.
