DESIGNER: Milly
INSPIRATION: The Nouvelle Vague films of Jean-Luc Godard, “Bande a Part,” “Pierrot Le Fou” and “Une Femme Est Une Femme”
TOP LOOKS: Navy wool sparkle bouclé coat with a navy and black wool mini skirt; crimson double-faced wool coat over a black and crimson cashmere sweater dress; navy and black striped sequin cap-sleeve dress over a navy cashmere tie neck sweater
WHO WAS THERE: Editor Suzy Yalof Schwartz; Julia Stiles and Eisabeth Hasselbeck (both dressed in head-to-toe Milly)
ACCESSORIES: Leather gloves in primary colors; tights in bright hues; textured tights; headbands; Mary Janes; berets
WHAT WE THOUGHT: “Godard’s artsy, chic women serve as my muse this season, with their clever combinations of bold hues, clean, modern silhouettes and feminine, cool attitude,” says Milly designer Michelle Smith in her liner notes. The collection hit all those points and then some.
The color palette of crimson, navy, black and ivory were hues that every gamine in the making should have as wardrobe staples. We love how Smith mixes rich fabrics together to get an artfully layered look. The black rabbit fur luggage lock jacket embodies the effortlessly chic look the designer was striving for.
And check out this uber-exciting Milly beauty news.
