Ulta Model Goes Makeup-less In New Campaign

This spring, beauty brands are keeping it real.

First, Bobbi Brown kicked off her Pretty Powerful campaign, which highlights before and after photos of real women.

Now, Ulta has released their March campaign, which features a bare-faced model “before” shot followed by an “after” that shows off pretty, natural-looking makeup inspired by floatingly sheer spring frocks.

A how-to video details the products and techniques behind the gentle transformation – which we’re impressed to see include a hodgepodge of both mass and prestige products from different brands – not unlike your everyday woman’s makeup bag.

Now granted, the model has some naturally amazing skin that we wish we could wake up in – but we still applaud the courage it takes to be so honest in front of the camera.

“By featuring our model ‘au naturel,’ Ulta had the opportunity to demonstrate simple steps to achieve the most updated looks. Our intention with this advertising campaign is to continue to identify fresh, new and exciting ways to educate and entertain women,” said President and CEO of Ulta, Lyn Kirby.

We do love us some good ol’ before and after shots.

The ads will run in the March issues of Allure, InStyle and Vanity Fair – and be sure to flip over the page for a $5 coupon off any purchase of $10 or more in the store.

Looking for a cheap thrill? Try a couple of manicurist-beloved Essie polishes – Mademoiselle is our favorite classic light pink shade – with the coupon, it’s almost like getting one free.
